Here are a few “tips” to spruce up your home without a major hit to your pocketbook:
Update your Lampshades: If your lampshades are faded, dated or dirty, consider switching them out for new ones. This is a very little change with a great "bang for your buck!"
REARRANGE YOUR ARTWORK: Moving pictures and rearranging groupings gives your rooms a fresh look. If a piece needs a new mat or a new frame, check out the sales at the local frame stores and give your pictures a little make over.
CLEAR UP YOUR BOOKSHELVES AND BOOKCASES: Take everything out of the bookcase so you can start with a blank slate. Then slowly build a new, edited display with a few favorite pieces gathered from other areas of your home.
Try grouping by color or size. Group formal and informal objects together. Use risers, like books, cake plates or plant stands, to elevate a few key pieces. Create charming backdrops with artwork, trays or platters propped on easels. If you have few unique pieces, like a family snapshot or a piece from one of your collections, add them to the books too. This can add a nice personal touch!
PAINT- PAINT- PAINT: New color gives a room a completely different feel. Color defiantly affects your mood so have fun! Check out your closet and see what colors you wear and that tends to give you a great idea of what colors make you happy. Go with seasonal changes – winter, spring, summer and fall – for a change. Paint is one of the least expensive ways to improve a room.
